He’s the kind of guy…

Happy Birthday to the amazing Rocket Man!

“I knew the first time I saw you an adventure was going to happen!” ~Winnie the Pooh {my favorite philosopher}

He’s the kind of guy who leaned over and whispered in my ear one day, “Would you like to ride a motorcycle with me?” And when I said, “Oh! Yes!” {even though I was not the motorcycle sort} he bought a bike and taught me to ride the wind.

Ed and the dishwasher

He’s the kind of guy who is will pitch in and help do whatever work needs to be done {gotta love a guy who can run an industrial dishwasher}

Ed and Anna

He’s the kind of guy who will dance at a wedding with a little girl who wants to dance!

the dance

He’s the kind of guy who will dance with this big girl almost any time I ask him to {even though he says he doesn’t like to dance, but I think its more that he thinks hes not very good at it}

Ed and the boys

He’s the kind of guy who loves my grandsons as if they were his very own.  Who considers them his very own, regardless of their bloodline.  He’s the best Granddaddy those boys could have.

Cool Breezes

He’s the kind of guy who humors my desires to take pictures of him.  He’s not a fan of having his picture taken, but he does it anyway.

He’s the kind of guy who after working on two other car batteries in a weeks’ time will get up and go help my parents when their car battery dies on a Sunday evening…after he’s announced  he’s done for the day.  And he does it with such a gentle grace. He’s the kind of guy who  melts my heart.

He’s the kind of guy who builds super cool space flight hardware.  Like the piece behind us.  Things that are actually orbiting the earth at this very moment. Because, you know, he’s the Rocket Man!

Kissing me

He’s the kind of guy who always has a kiss for me. Kisses given generously and in abundance.  Just because!

He’s the kind of guy who took my wounded, battle-scarred heart and found it to be beautiful and worthy of love.  Together we are finding out it is never too late to live happily ever after. Our second chance life together that began with lots of baggage, a houseful of children and even a grandchild is something we’ve made into a first class life.  He’s the kind of guy who believes in second chances.

Yes, it is his birthday, but he is the gift.  A gift of love and life and laughter, comfort and warmth and understanding to me for which I am eternally grateful.  He’s the kind of guy who fills  ordinary days with  extraordinary moments. He’s just the kind of guy to make my dreams come true.

So here’s to the Rocket Man!  My dearest love.

Happy birthday!
