It’s Five Minute Friday, when I join up with a bunch of precious folks for a writing exercise. We write for five minutes flat. We write from our hearts with no editing, no do-overs, lots of tears, plenty of laughter and let me tell you…it can get very real in a big hurry! No muligans here! When we are finished, we link up and enjoy reading each other’s post. We link up at @lisajobaker.com Feel free to go over and read the wonderful posts that will be there.
The prompt: Red
Red. The color of leather Mary Janes of my childhood and cowboots of my right now.
Paired with black, the colors I wear to show my loyalty to the University of Georgia Bulldogs during football season.
The color of a beautiful garnet ring, all sparkly and shiny and just a little bit gaudy. Given to me by the Rocket Man for Valentine’s Day a few years ago when I’d had surgery on my pinkie finger.
A color of Christmas. Of True Love. Roses. Lipstick. Toenail polish. Apples in the fall. Cherries in the summer. Radishes. My baby girl’s face when she cried and cried and cried without stopping, all night long.
A color the Rocket Man can’t see. He is color blind.
The color of blood.
A symbol of ransom.
The color of redemption.
The cup of Salvation.
Given for me.
Freely given. Without the red blood of the Lamb there is no remission of sin.
Blessed, holy red.
A favorite color.
